We’re all for being film critics, but this screening may not be the best time to heckle, considering the film’s stars will be present…kind of.
For the first time, Boston will be hosting the live national premiere screening for the New York Film Critics Series right at our beloved Coolidge Corner Theatre. First up is a screening of Nebraska, the latest Paramount Vantage film by acclaimed writer-director Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants) starring Bruce Dern and Will Forte (swoon).
Did we mention Dern won the Best Actor Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival?
The New York Film Critics Series aims to create inspiring, collaborative events that nurture “the long-term success of better, smarter movies” with soon-to-be released films and Q&As broadcast live from New York City. These monthly screenings get bragging rights considering they’re moderated by Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers and the films are screened prior to their national release (and for films like Silver Linings Playbook, The Artist, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and Slumdog Millionaire, too).
Peter Travers will introduce the film at the Coolidge via live HD broadcast, and will interview Dern and Forte after the film.
Grab a ticket to see a cantankerous father (Dern) think he’s struck gold after getting a sweepstakes letter in the mail, dragging his son (Forte) on a road trip to claim the fortune. Act fast, because when something is shot in black and white, filmed in four states, and has a talented cast, tickets are bound to go quickly.
